You may find some great web design tutorials online to learn the basics. However, these are usually accompanied by some sort of sales pitch, and there's usually some catch. Follow the tips presented here to learn the basics of web design.
Along with your logo, your business should have a tagline. A quick and easy to remember sentence that encompasses the functionality or mission of your business. Feature this prominent tagline on the front page of your site. It's important to use a tagline that is clear since you have about eight seconds when someone goes to your page to get them interested in exploring your entire website. Your logo should be visible, medium size and not skewed or disproportioned in any way. Your logo should be at the top of your website so people are never confused about which site they just landed on! It should also be an automate click to your home page. If your logo is ill-fitting or too detailed to be seen clearly on your page the best thing to do is... design a different logo! This seems extreme but if your logo cannot be easily seen on your website it is highly likely you will have the same issue on other digital marketing and it may be even worse on physical marketing like brochures or flyers. Do not include an abundance of graphics on your site. Some images are necessary. However, too many are overwhelming and can cause long lag time when your site is loading for someone. Graphics should improve your site, not slow it down. The right number of graphics improves look and functionality without crowding the page. Keep this in mind when optimizing your site for mobile-viewing. Too many large pictures might make it impossible for someone to navigate your site from their phone. Make sure to preserve personal information that may need to be entered again by the same user of your website. Make it easy on your visitors by keeping information that they may need for other forms or orders. Saving the user's information in this way simplifies work for them, and is much appreciated by your website visitors. As you learn more and more with regard to web design, you are sure to understand that each piece fits together neatly, just like a puzzle. There are many pieces; however, it is easy to design a website with the proper knowledge. Use this information to make your website better! |
